    It happens to me as well. I have a AC87U and connect with PPPoE. No custom scripts. Adaptive QOS.

    I believe you should be using the "Bandwidth limiter" option, not "Traditional QOS".

    I've had a AC87U for over a year and never did any kind of reset when updating. Alphas, betas, even switching between Merlin and Official firmwares. Everything works fine.

    Yes, WINS was on. When I turned it off it doesn't autostart anymore. I was under the impression that the big "Enable Share" switch on top turned everything off. Thank you

    I've had this issue for quite a few version now, and it's still occurring in the latest 380.60_beta2. Samba autostarts on boot even though "Enable Share" is off and "Force as Master Browser" is No. This is after boot: [:~] $ smbutil -v status -ae router Using IP address of router: 192.168.1.1...

    Adaptive QOS - port assignments?

    I have found that Adaptive QOS is pretty much useless with rules that probably haven't changed since 2005. Also take into account since more and more traffic today is encrypted they can't classify it by snooping. Just watch as a Steam or Xbox Live game download completely kills your connection...

    I can't say I have any problems with it since the last firmware. I have about ~15 clients connected (iOS, Android, Macs, PCs). Uptime is 12 days now (The power went out) and my NAS has been connected for 266 hours on 2.4GHz band, and a Fire TV stick has been connected for 110 hours on the 5 GHz...

    [Bug] Adaptive QoS does not properly classify traffic

    The same with Xbox One. It will start downloading a 40 GB game, QOS classifies it as "Xbox Live", gives it the highest priority and promptly drowns the internet connection.

    It's normal. My Wi-Fi iPad Air 2 does it every 10 minutes... Xbox One will also connect often. Basically anything with just Wifi that's sleeping. Ideally, if the DHCP lease time is set to 24h, they should do a request after 12h. But hey... unless you have a few hundred devices connected it...

    ASUS seems to have removed the "Airtime Fairness" option in the 5 Ghz band... at least on the AC87U.

    You need to have realistic expectations for QOS. It's fine for keeping a video stream stable, but if you were thinking of playing online multiplayer games while seeding a torrent to 50 people, that probably won't work so well.

    I had the the exact same problems. Came from a AirPort Extreme where everything worked perfectly, to failed consistency checks and errors on the Asus router. I tired everything I could think of, even switching from HFS+ to ext4, but in the end gave up and bought a small Synology NAS for Time...

    I "fixed" it on two Macbook Pro's by turning off "Powernap" and "Wake for Wi-Fi access" in System Preferences->Energy Saver
