exceeding 100m from switch with POE

i know 802.3af standard is limited to 100m. i would like to install an access point 800' away from my switch. POE extenders are an option, but does any company make a proprietary POE that can do 800'? something like the technology Dahua is using for the ePOE line of cams, but for access points?

    Question about 450mhz vs Gigabit

My Asus RT-N66U is a gigabit router if I am correct. Asus advertises the router as 450mhz, but they also mention gigabit speeds. Please help me understand this. Does this mean in an ideal situation if my computer is hardwired to the router I could achieve near gigabit speeds (assuming my...

    Outdoor access point settings

I have my access point mounted horizontally. In my AP settings I have to specify how I have it mounted (horizontally or vert). I know how I mount the AP will determine whether the signal is wide or tall. Why do I need to enter this in the settings? Will the AP not transmit the same signal...

Transmit wifi to a separate building 100' feet away?

Sorry, I should have been clear. The old equip is only if needed for a bridge etc. Basically I want to use my Linksys e1200 attached to my tp-link AP and transmit a signal to a building 100 feet away. I didnt know is an AP could reach this far or if something else was needed, e.g. bridge. I am...

Transmit wifi to a separate building 100' feet away?

I have old routers with DD-WRT, and have a couple of cheap access points. Would a directional access point (cheap TP Link) be capable of handling this distance? I have no idea how far access points will carry a signal when deployed in a line of sight situation with zero obstructions. Thanks.

dd-wrt repeater bridge will not change channels

my repurposed linksys e-1200 is working fine as a repeater bridge (minus throughput issues which come with that). when i change the wifi channel of the primary router or the channel of the repeater bridge they follow one another. they are on the same subnet. each one works fine, but the bridge...
