With an AC66 I have the 2.4 GHZ band om 32 Mw and the 5 GHZ band on 80 Mw. The firmware I use is the Fork version 3. NVRAM settings are #a etc. throughput is close to theoretical maximum and reach is excellent.

All Asus routers have this issue. for others like Linksys it is the same. I have an AVM 7340 and that offers all the allowed channels. I bet that the 7490 does too.
This worked for me all the time:
First remove anything from Intel related to wireles in "Program and Features".
Delete all Wireles profiles.
Then start Device Manager and uninstall the driver for the wireless card AND don't forget to check the box "delete the driver software for this...

There is no need tot state that if you are in the US of A. Asus screws things up for the rest of the world. They jump through hoops for the FCC. You might wonder what they would do for other US agencies…
It should have. But it does not. Asus messes things up big time, outside of the US. So if you are not in the US, stay away from Asus for as long as it will take them to get their act together and that could take a long time.
That seems unlikely. Country specific regulations are implemented in the firmware of the radio chips. Ac87 uses Quantenna for 5g and the others use Broadcom.
