    AC1900u Downgrade firmware possible?

Thanks! How can I backup the JFFS? I have seen the option to backup optionally disabling password and transferring DDNS. But nothing about JFFS. Is it included by default in the backup?

    AC1900u Downgrade firmware possible?

Hello I am a light user of a ac1900u (no mesh). Right now I am in the last 385 fw (v3.0.0.4.385.20633). Everything that I use is working fine (HDD through SMB for example). Now I am considering to upgrade to the last version (3.0.0.4.386.49703) mainly for security reasons (no need to improve...

    Ac1900u-ac68u max usb hdd size

Hello Will the ac1900u/ac68u handle a 4Tb hdd disk? Formatted as hfs+. Right now I have a 2tb and it works fine here says that it is up to 2tb but it is quite old and maybe the present fw allows 4tb https://event.asus.com/2009/networks/disksupport/ Any experience? Thanks a lot!

Merlin 384.19, Samba 2 transfer rate HDD - Mojave

Mistery solved. I've finally checked that samba in macOS is only slightly slower than windows. The problem with my previous test is that I was dragging a 50MB file which was an app. And this app is not like an .exe in windows but a folder with thousands of small files. It was not a good test...

Merlin 384.19, Samba 2 transfer rate HDD - Mojave

Thanks! I have done a test that a member suggested me. A windows 10 transfer with my work computer. And the result has been surprising. A 600MB file in 25 seconds (25MBs sustained) My macbook has spent 5 minutes to send a 50MB file (20MB in 2 seconds but then 0.1MBs or less, virtually stuck)...

Samba performance very poor (AC68u, last stock fw)

Wow. What a good advice. Just today I have my work computer at home, a windows 10. I have connected to the ethernet, and transfer a 600MB file in 25 seconds. With a sustained rate of 25MB/s. I could connect a USB3 in the other connector but first of all I should reproduce this in the mac...

Merlin 384.19, Samba 2 transfer rate HDD - Mojave

Thanks to your comment I have done several tests. As it is the stock fw I have post it there: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/samba-performance-very-poor-ac68u-last-stock-fw.66716/ A summary. My samba performance is very low, both smb1 and smb2. It starts to send a file quite fast, but after...

Samba performance very poor (AC68u, last stock fw)

Hello After some tests I am concerned about my samba performance which is far from expected. Setup. Last stock fw 3.0.0.4.385.20633, ethernet connection to a macbook pro (mojave). External disk connected to usb2. Samba defined in Asus. My Ram with this configuration is pretty high. Around 50%...

Merlin 384.19, Samba 2 transfer rate HDD - Mojave

" Hold on there. That's the first I've heard of an RT-AC68U auto-updating. " Automatic or at least involuntary. I was happy in the 3.0.0.4.384.45717 for months and yesterday when I had a look, it was in the 3.0.0.4.385.20633, updated the 18th of september. It is possible that around that day...

Merlin 384.19, Samba 2 transfer rate HDD - Mojave

Thanks! Yesterday I tried with a 1GB file and it took ages. I had to stop it after 5 minutes because it was painfully slow (maybe 20% done at that moment). I assumed that it was because smb1. Now I am not that sure. I'd say that some time ago it was not that slow. But lately I have upgraded to...

Merlin 384.19, Samba 2 transfer rate HDD - Mojave

Hi all. I have a rt68u with last stock firmware. I am considering to move to merlin 384.19 because I want to improve my Samba transfer rate. I assume that stock is limited to smb1 but merlin uses smb2. I’ve seen in other posts that speed in smb2 could get to 200-250 mbps. This is enough for...

Noob question about SMB1 vs SMB2

Yes you are right. From Catalina OS on. I'm not there right now. Waiting for a debugged final version. Hopefully along a stable SMB2 asus version. Thanks a lot!

Noob question about SMB1 vs SMB2

Thanks for the advice. Sounds quite reasonable. I'd update more frequently but all this factory reset and start from scratch makes it very time consuming. So I prefer to nail the version :) Anyway. Do you mean 386 or 396? :) Regards!

Noob question about SMB1 vs SMB2

Thanks! I also wonder if SMB1 from a mac client is as vulnerable as a win client. I'll definitely update in a future. But reading this forum, it seems that last 384 versions were plentiful of problems (81351 and 81049) I guess I can stick to 45717 a little bit more (it is not a prehistoric...

Noob question about SMB1 vs SMB2

Hello! Forgive this noob question. I have a HDD shared by SMB1 to a macbook inside my home network. My AC1900U FW is 3.0.0.4.384_45717 which still doesn't support SMB2. I've read that SMB1 is very unsafe. Is it in this configuration? Should I upgrade to SMB2 with a later FW? I've read...
