5Ghz to 2.4Ghz repeater

I have 2 N66U's, one of which I want to use as a repeater.

Master N66U has SSID's Home and Home_5. It is wired to the main router, which handles DHCP, DNS, etc.

I want slave N66U to connect to Master wirelessly via SSID Home_5, acting as an access point by broadcasting via SSID Home. (ie, both master and slave are broadcasting SSID Home for more complete coverage.

Is there any way to do this reliably? I'm comfortable using aftermarket firmware. I tried to set up via Tomato, but was unable to get past my main router, ie, I could ping main router, Master, and computers on network, but not outside IP's or domain names.

You can install dd-wrt on it then follow this guide http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Bridged

This is how I do it. Set the 5ghz up as a client bridged then the 2.4ghz can be an ap.
