87R and Apple products weirdness

I have an 87R and MacBook Pro, iPhone 6, and iPad Air 2 all running current official firmware (no betas)

SSID and passwords are the same for 2.4 and 5 GHz

Oddly, the phone call continuity feature and iTunes wifi sync don't work when both MacBook and either iPhone or iPad are also on 5 GHz band

Thoughts?
