I have OPENDNS as my DNS provider, I noticed that in the last 24 hours, in my opendns stats page that this domain aae-spweb.asuscloud.com has had over 5,000 requests. And is he number one blocked domain, it is also blacklisted for some reason.

What is this? I dont have any of the asus cloud features set up in my router to my knowledge . Why am I getting flooded with requests from this Domain ? When i google this domain it brings me to Merlins page and the the firmware info.

oh I also read that Asus just settled a lawsuit alleging :
On 23 February 2016, Asus settled a lawsuit filed by the American Federal Trade Commission. The lawsuit revealed the presence of critical security flaws in the company's home network routers, which put hundreds of thousands of consumers at risk. The insecure "cloud" services led to the compromise of thousands of consumers’ connected storage devices, exposing their sensitive personal information on the internet. The breaches took place during the course of Asus' marketing campaign which advertised its routers as including numerous security features that the company claimed could "protect computers from any unauthorized access, hacking, and virus attacks".[66]

Which made me concerned that maybe my router is not secure?

Help please?

I had a similar issue with my RT-AC68U using stock firmware, so it seems it is not related to Merlin's software.
I got rid of it by using "Initialize" (Administration - Restore/ Save / Upload settings) which presumably zaps everything in memory. Following that I reconfigured the box from scratch.

Hope this helps,

So I was going to wipe both routers and start fresh but to my surprise they haven't sent any queries for the past 4 hours. Not sure what happened maybe whatever that site is was down so they kept sending the requests?
