ac68u fails to mount usb hdd at boot

This is so damn annoying, a reboot will unmount my usb hdd that worked fine on the n66u, every single time I have to unplug and replug to get it to work. :(

any ideas on a fix for this ?
 
it was ext3 but i formatted it again tonight to ext4 in the hope that would sort it but no :(
