So I had a speed issue with my AC86U where it would plateau at 360mbps wired and 160mbps wireless while on a 500 mbits line.
Today I upgraded the firmware to Merlin 386.3_2 (6-Aug-2021) from an earlier Asus firmware. It seemed to yield better results as I got 400mbps wired and 240mbps wireless. I couldn't leave it at that. I decided to enable the Game Boost option since the kids play a lot on their PS4. I thought all was good until I noticed within a couple of minutes that I had lost my connection. It came back but would go out again intermittently every couple of minutes. I'm not sure what that feature does but regardless, I decided to turn it back off and the disconnection problem stopped.
Any idea what might be going on?
