Sorry for the confusion, I meant that I don't think that iperf3 comes preinstalled. I believe you have to install it through Entware (unless it's something they've added recently).

Perhaps recently. My AC68U with Merlin 384.15 comes with iperf3.

how do you test which channel is best?

I used the tool comes with Macbook Pro and also wifi analyzer in android phone, but they are giving different recommendations.
Also should I disable my current wifi to do the test?

@naper82, by testing all the channels, you find the best.

No phone 'app' will help determine that properly when non-WiFi, WiFi interference is around.

Sorry, that's what I meant. AC86U. And iperf3 is at /usr/bin/iperf3

That's a fair point, I had never thought of that (I've used iperf3 in many environments, but CPU has never been a factor I've had to consider previously).
