I have set up a simple vpn using PPTP on an Asus RT-ac66U router running Merlin firmware 3.0.0.4.374.33. It does allow me to access the internet remotely OK from a remote site, but I also want to be able to access the external hard drive attached to one of the router's USB ports. I have enabled samba for the VPN, but do not know what I have to do to see the attached USB drive. Is it even possible to do this with this router/firmware?
If it is (only) possible with Openvpn I would have a go at learning how to do that, but for me (newbie) it looks complicated. All I am trying to achieve is remote access to the attached USB drive on the router while I am travelling away from home.
