[Announcement] Removal of AiCloud from Asuswrt-Merlin

The other option is don’t upgrade to the next release until you return from your 4 month trip. Do your homework while away. No sense getting all tense about something that won’t affect you unless you upgrade.

Don't upgrade to an Alpha build, but turn off AiCloud so you can't be used as a botnet host.

So, still look at alternatives mentioned here.

Wondering if the removal of ai cloud will allow the https web listener to move back to 443?

i have an older setup in a remote location.. one 11000 pro behind starlink cgi nat going to a gtaxe16000 .. besides a full time openvpn channel i also have it doing periodic speedtests and emailing me results as well as a full time reverse ssl socket to my own server..

for this reason dont want to upgrade these routers till i am there.. currently running 3004.388.8_2_rog .. ai cloud is disabled. i assume i am ok for now as i will update this summer when i have physical access to the location?

It`s fine if AiCloud is kept disabled.

I find this quite confusing. It appears to be referring to CVE-2025-2492 which was addressed back in April last year. So I don't understand why this was only posted a few days ago. I guess I'm missing something.
I suppose that organisation only just added that old issue to their own database. <shrug>

It should be mandatory for these researchers to reveal which specific version of a software had been tested and confirmed as vulnerable. Otherwise, these reports are completely useless.

In any case, we thank you for removing AiCloud. Well done and about time.

Anyone could do it with the GPL from Asus for their model then untick aicloud before compiling.
But then you are on the hook for maintaining your “private” version. Rather leave that to the experts ;-)

I don't think anyone can do it. From somewhat regular SNB Forum members perhaps selected few have done it before and will eventually do it again. Most "New around here" members need Reset instructions.

Darn, I have 2 drives connected to my usb ports and backup one drive to another when files are added/modified. Anyway to bring back just this functionality?
