AP vs Router

I would appreciate if someone would share their time and expertise to educate me regarding APs Vs Routers...

In a previous post it was explained to me that APs have less computing work to perform and thus can deliver greater throughput in a simple network where clients only access internet and print. Are there other advantages/disadvantages?

In this thread https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless?id=30355&start=1 it is explained that APs should be connected via their LAN ports (and not their WAN ports) to the router. Why and what is the difference?

My network (in this sequence):
> ISP Router/Modem
> Cat 6
> HUB
> Cat 6
> Routers A, B, C and D (soon will configure as APs)
> WiFi (AC and N)
> 1 printer and a dozen laptops, phones, tablets, etc.

Thank you in advance.
