Assigning Static DHCP IP's

Thanks for all your hard work Merlin.

I'm used to Tomato and the click on OUI/Static process from Device Manager.

Trying to navigate how to do so with your custom firmware.

Sometimes the list shows names of devices, which helps me set them to the desired IP, sometimes it just list MAC's.

I'm confused about the two different places where I can build a static IP list.

Also when I tried the default Asus firmware before heading down the custom firmware path I could name the Device as I saw fit. Currently I can't type anything in the Name/Device field.

Make sure you have upgraded to 260.21. There was a compatibility issue with 246.20 and Firefox that prevented users from typing text in the Name field. You can also alternatively use a different browser to work around that issue.

Best place to get the list of IPs and MACs is on the main router page. Click on the Clients icon to display the Networkmap - this is the most up-to-date list of devices. Devices shown only as MACs will be clickable for you to do an OUI lookup.

Typically, names can be resolved by the Networkmap after the device/computer has had a chance to request a new DHCP lease from the router, so sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for all names to resolves. You can also reboot the computer/devices to force them to renew their leases.

Thanks. Was in fact using Firefox so will try with IE10.

Will look now at the other stuff.

Update: Naming devices works eih IE10. I have x.21....


Edit: Thanks, the Firefox thing was the problem. Interesting. That list looks great. Would be nice if one could click there and the device would be added to the static dhcp but it does work and its only one extra step as compared to Tomato.

Ugh. Looks like my fix for Firefox got lost somewhere along the way, it's not in build 21.

It got accidentally lost with this merge - I was probably working on an older version of the file that time. Thanks for the heads up.
