With the RT-AC68 and RT-AC1900 the differences are still "nothing" compared to the recently mentioned Linksys WRT54G series hardware versions (remarkable CPU, memory and even OS differences) and the Linksys E4200 (different OS for v1 and v2).
It makes me think of the VW Beetle, one name, a similar look and numerous less- and more important differences and enhancements over many years.
Remarks about what you said (Linksy's WRT54G) is one of the big reasons I contacted them also, it's been posted several times by different people who remember.
I am under the impression that major changes like CPU, Amount/type ram, whatever, are major changes that should be addressed by (TRUE) version changes (My opinion), these are BIG changes and people have a right to know! I do not know what the "Cutoff" would be to the FCC in identifying changes (how they go about it) and I don't think a lot of you guys know either or even the FCC it seems!
It's always GOOD to wake up the bureaucrats every now and then instead of just sitting idly by and saying, Oh Well, That's the Way Things Are !
I would have thought you would be happy I contacted them instead, to find out their procedure in these matters. but some of you seem to believe I committed some sort of crime.
It's this kind of action that will clear things up when you see a version change, right now seeing a V1, V2, V3, could mean a lot or nothing, is that what you want?
Would you rather know the truth or just go on the way things have been, knowing practically nothing and arguing about what you think you know?
