What is the best way to use an Asus AC88U and AX92U? I am currently running the AC88U only and got the AX92U for Christmas. If I want to do an AiMesh, which one should be my main router? Also, is there a bet release version of Merlin that I can run on AX92U. I am currently running the latest Merlin version on AC88U. Thanks.

Ever since 386 (Version 3.0.0.4.386.40451) AX92U seems to disconnect for many (including me) every day or so, blaming the internet router of not being connected. It’s not known yet if yesterday’s 3.0.0.4.386.41535 fixed this, so AC88U at the router might be the smart move.

I would make AX92U, with an added usb fan on top, be my most used router if that wasn’t the case.

In my case, the latest update is still causing this issue.

OP, please disregard what I said, you might have issue using AX92U regardless of connection order. Someone else posted:

I am slightly baffled to how an update on my other router on my AiMesh RX-AX92U currently using firmware 3.0.0.4.384_9177 but when I update to firmware 3.0.0.4.386_40451 my main router on the AiMesh keeps disconnecting

Did you firmware fixed the issue? Should I now have issue where my set up is running fine, but one device is using main router (ac88u). My node is the ax92u but I am thinking about changing routers and making ax92u the main router.

No change for me with latest firmware. However someone said this “The disconnect issue for me was resolved once I turned off SmartConnect and split the 2g and 5g network. I haven't had a disconnect for around 2 weeks.” and using separate bands fixed problem for me, after few painful months. So now on 386 and using separate bands.

Just to be clear, the problem I reported was about the routers claiming internet is down randomly once a day and needing reboot to solve, not any other issue past that wan connectivity. It looked like this:
