ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 current experience

Hi, I wanted to know from those who own the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 European version how it is doing with the latest official firmware. Has the wireless side improved?

I can't answer your question because I've only used it with the current firmware, and I'm using it as an AiMesh node not router.
But I do have a couple of observations that might be useful.

One thing I can say is setting up the main router is very fussy, I had trouble with client disconnects when setting WiFi 7 and MLO but eventually what should have been an equivalent setup is working ok, including the GT-BE98 (as far as I can tell so far).

Also, I initially wanted the GT-BE98 as the main router but couldn't get more than one BQ16 to pair as a node, I put that down to older firmware on the BQ16 (last was an August release). I may try this again but my son likes having the big honkin' facehugger as "his" router so I might not get a chance.

Oh and btw, this is the Australian version which I believe is the same as the European version, it's certainly not the Pro version.

Well I can say that the main reason I bought this router was/is the wifi. It's ridiculously good. I have even a wifi camera in the back garden that usually goes onto the mesh and when I turn the mesh off, it manages to get a link with the main GT-BE98. And I assure you it's easy 50 meters away straight line and the router is at the frontside of the house. Just 1 bar, but yet it still get's there. I think (but haven't tested) that the BQ16 antenna's won't do such a great job but I could be wrong.

The use of guest networks brings me a couple of incompatibility with two devices: a Panasonic TV (JZ2000) that does not receive a dynamic IP address from the DHCP server and a Denon amplifier which, although connected to the network, for Alexa it turns out to be offline.
To confirm I tried with two different brand routers and the problems do not occur.

I have a UK sourced BE98 (from Amazon) as the main router, with a RT-AX86U as a wired node and have used this setup since March 2024. It has performed outstanding well, no issues at all since April 2024. If a client gets a bit picky about a WiFi 7 router, that is what the IoT guest network is for and that accommodates my smart meter IHD, smart washing machine and smart thermostat, all of which do not want WiFi 7. Back in March to April 2024, I had it re-boot each night for a few minor issues, which I no longer recall what they were, but they got sorted in a firmware update in April 2024 and it just remains rock solid without the need for any re-boots. Best router I have had, great speed, range and stability.

I have the GT-BE98 and two ZenWiFi BQ16 AiMesh nodes with the latest firmware.
I find the family (and myself) can't tolerate them for more than about a day.
Many of my 50 or so Smart devices drop and eventually reconnect, Alexa is not usable, and my latest problem is turning on MLO did not result in the backhaul to using MLO as it did the first time I did this.
Also running the speed test on a Fire TV (6GHz WiFi) gives me between 120 and 220 mbps whereas with both the Orbi 970 series and the TP Link BE85 I get just over 500 mbps (for a 1GB internet link).

So I'm not impressed by any means!

I have 9 Alexa's (Echo's) attached to my BE98 and not one of them has dropped out in the almost 12 months I have been using the router. I get the full speed of my Internet throughout my house and garden & into my detached out buildings, albeit I a am on a FTTC 80mbps service, getting about 73 mbps into the house. The Alexa's are not attached to the IoT network.

Hoi, ik wilde graag weten van degenen die de Europese versie van de ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BE98 bezitten, hoe het gaat met de nieuwste officiële firmware. Is de draadloze kant verbeterd?

Ben zeer tevree na de firware-updates ... draai 2 gig glasv delta en ik mesh wifi 7
