Asus RT-86U blocked in Chinese language

Choosing Chinese should use French, as @Martineau 's command overrides the Chinese dictionary file

Did you issue both commands?

EDIT: The limited menu choice of only two languages will not change, but the Chinese option will be replaced by French! together with all visible on screen text will change to the mapped dictionary file.

Nop, I change language but nothing change...

@Martineau : Yes, I try again now, the same thing; English is English, CN is CN, I signed out, changed my workstation, cleared the cache, nothing to do. It’s weird but it’s like that. there is no dead man, it remains usable and above all easier to understand in English than in Chinese :)

I suppose ASUS could have built the firmware with ALL (except Eglish EN.dict) language files containing Chinese, but perhaps mapping /www files is indeed physically impossible.
 
Big worries. I carried out the requested manipulation, and miraculously I had French: D
But, power outage, laborious restart and return to square one. So I took over the entire protocol as shown in the code.

And by switching from Chinese to French, it works :)

But I don't dare to restart the router

En cas d’activation de Game Boost, vous pouvez voir la barre LED utiliser un effet de respiration rouge.

Compteur de trafic

La LED arc-en-ciel indique votre trafic en temps réel et change de combinaison de couleurs selon votre vitesse Internet actuelle.

Échec de la connexion

En cas d’échec de la connexion, vous pouvez voir la barre LED utiliser un effet de comète rouge.

Blocage d’attaque

Lorsque le système bloque avec succès une attaque potentielle, vous pouvez voir une barre LED utiliser un effet de comète rouge.

Remarque : Après avoir sélectionné Événement, le système affiche différents effets LED en fonction de l’événement actuellement détecté. Vous ne pouvez pas contrôler les LED de votre appareil pendant l’utilisation de cette fonction.

Über die Regenbogen-LED wird Datenverkehr in Echtzeit angezeigt. Dabei variiert die Farbkombination entsprechend der aktuellen Internetgeschwindigkeit.

Wenn die Anmeldung fehlschlägt, zeigt die LED-Leiste einen Komet-Effekt in Rot.

Abwehr von Angriffen

Wenn das System einen potentiellen Angriff erfolgreich abwehrt, zeigt die LED-Leiste einen Komet-Effekt in Rot.

Yay!!! :):):) and it appears the language drop-down menu does reflect the current (hacked) two options! :D

P.S. Apologies for initially getting the mapping the wrong way round it's been a long time since I needed to use it myself.:oops::rolleyes:

P.P.S. Thanks for persisting and believing in me and my proposed solution.

OK, during the boot, you will need to automatically reapply the French language mapping using a script ….as per the instructions here Trying to change language from Japanese to English on ASUS RT-AC86U but obviously change 'EN.dict' to 'FR.dict'

EDIT: Once you have corrected one of the duplicate FR.Dict references in the first command to CN.Dict:eek::eek::eek:
Simply triple-click (both) the code line(s), and copy'n'paste into the SSH session on the router.

Then when convenient, reboot and see if the router retains the GUI in French!

Apologies, you need to be in the source directory where the script is located to use the shortcut path notation './'

cd /jffs/scripts

./Dictionary_MSG.sh
otherwise if you are in a different directory (say '/root') then you need to supply the full pathname of the script
