I would get the RT-AC68U. The RT-AC87U is so new that few clients even support it's maximum capabilities.

The wifi seems to be better on 87U.(well duh its faster than 68u)However, the signal strength was a bit better too.
Interesting you say this, that wasn't really the impression i had got from reviews.
I have been pretty happy with my N66U, but its wireless range drops off a bit at the furthest point of my house, and i have been tossing up on whether to get an AC68U which goes for the equivalent of US$175 here, however there is a deal on Sunday where i can get the AC87U for US$203.
I'm tempted by the 87U as it's design is considerably better than the AC68U (particularly for where i need to put it). If the wireless range actually is a bit better too, that may just push me over the edge.
