My 87U is updated with the most current stable version of Merlin... so unsure as to when this 'bug' was introduced or if this indeed would be considered a bug. Just thought it would be worthwhile pointing it out in case someone else runs into it.

If any dashes or periods exist in the Description field under the Basic Settings section, an attempt to modify any setting in an openVPN client gets denied by a dialog box that reads:
Only letters, spaces, numbers, dashes and underscores are accepted.

My description did contain a dash and a period... it read like a URL:
foobar-domain.com and seemed to be compliant to field validation, as per the error message.

I simply removed all punctuation, hit Apply and all was well again.

So the message in the dialogue box is quite possibly 109% correct and it was the full-stop/period in front of “com” that was invalid, as per the message? In which case, I’m sure you’re right: it wouldn’t be considered a bug, more like a feature?

Did you try it with a dash and all other characters restricted to either numbers, letters, spaces or underscores?
