When you download a file, Windows adds a BLOCKED marker to it. This is a significant issue for developers when users report that a program fails to install or, despite installation, doesn't function correctly. The same applies to drivers.

It is a nuisance because Windows does not distinguish between safe and harmful files. It just blocks everything you download, which is why you sometimes get the "Are you sure you want to open this file?" warning.

Right-click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, and check the Unblock button at the bottom if it says it was blocked because it came from the internet. If you don't do this, the installer will not have the required privileges, leading to an erroneous installation.

To prevent Windows from automatically blocking downloaded files, see the guide "Enable or Disable Block Files Downloaded from Internet in Windows."

I took the bait from Asus and accepted the upgrade to my two ASUS RT-BE92U. Four hours in and everything seems to be fine. I looked at the ASUS product support page and the newest firmware that I accepted is not listed publicly at this moment.

I recently discovered and joined snbforum due to my online research concerning the frustrating IoT network disconnection issue with my newish ASUS RT-BE92U. I purchased and installed this router on 10/04/25 and enjoyed it's stability on the Main, IoT and Guest networks I had setup for our needs at our house, then the update ASUS issued on 10/31/25 happened. I left autoupdate on and trusted ASUS would eventually take care of the problem and now I see they have pushed out a new firmware version.
I had moved a couple of my IoT devices to the Main network (which never disconnected) and would reboot whenever the issue randomly occurred to reconnect the other less critical devices. Now that I have the new 3.0.0.6.102_38980 firmware update installed, I will repopulate the IoT nework the way it was and monitor for issues.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this conversation and those who offered possible solutions. I almost tried some of the solutions suggested on this forum and reddit but instead chose to "ride it out" and wait for ASUS to solve this.
This router is my first ASUS product (coming from using NETGEAR exclusively) and intially I was very pleased with it's performance and the ablilty to tweak numerous settings. So far I have not changed many settings from default and decided to leave it alone until the issue was resolved. I look forward to learning from this forum and elsewhere how to fine tune and take advantage of all the capabilities this router has.
