What's new

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.7 is now available

Placebo. The only changes between beta1 and beta2 are at the webui level, and a bugfix related to Wireguard (which does not impact the RT-BE92U).

Code:
21d30a367f Bumped revision to 3006.102.7 final
7b6810ec20 Updated documentation
2bc9ee0923 rc: refresh wireguard BLOG bypass when refreshing VPN routing on BCM4916 platform
b4182dd67a webui: update routing rules when toggling a client from the VPNDirector page
4904a33e94 webui: styling fixes to the Firmware Upgrade page for non-AiMesh models.
0099cd1cb9 Bumped revision to beta 2
96e757e5f9 Updated documentation
3f2c98fe2f rom: fix missing signature updater for models with TrendMicro HNS engine
Ok you don't have to take what I said, you can ignore it if that's what you want.

I just reported what happens this end.

I have gone back to beta1 and it's been perfect ever since.

I use AiFoto, AiData and AiMaster on my phone, they login via Host/Cloud ID so, I'm not sure, if AiCloud is removed now will this update effect any of these apps being used away from home

thanks

Not sure if this is an issue with this release or something else, but I can't enable 802.11ax / WiFi 6 mode on the 2.4 GHz band and I'm sure I've had that enabled before, but maybe it's not an option for the 2.4 GHz band, but if so, why is the option there to start with?

Asus are in the middle of reworking the way wireless settings are managed due to the new Network page. It`s possible that there migh be some settings that haven`t been properly migrated yet, or aren`t handled properly.

The next GPL will probably contain numerous fixes in this area, so best is to wait for that.

Does the new firmware for the BE86U (3.0.0.6.102_39260) indicate a new GPL incoming?
No. I don`t expect a new GPL until May, except for the RT-BE92U (which is a special case), unless Asus changes the timeline they told me last time we discussed it.

Hum. This is curious. I have it enable under 3006.102.7 release on RT-AX86U Pro. And a laptop can connect correctly on the 2.4GHz band in ax mode (with the extra provided speed at short distance for 20mhz channel width)... (i can enable it on both 2.4/5ghz bands)

First quick tests are looking good with the new RT-BE92U GPL. Clients are now able to ping one another between port 1 and 2, and after ~20 minutes of tests I haven't reproduced the CPU stall/clock reset issue yet.

can anyone give me some advice on this please, I'm using Aifoto as a backup route for mobile pics and vid to my NAS and like how its set up (not my only backup). I know my pics are backed up right away so I dont need to worry,

I use AiData occasionally and AiMaster rarely so not too fussed about these, but dont want to lose AiFoto

thanks

AiFoto, AiData, AiMaster are Asustor NAS apps and unrelated to AiCloud hence not impacted by the removal.

I have a GT-AX6000 and it's not working for me, as my phone only syncs at 144 Mbps and reports Wi-Fi 4/802.11n. It wasn't an issue prior to this firmware update. The router just won't let me enable it, which is annoying.

Behaviour of 102.6 and 102.7 is identical (no change in GPL for that model with 102.7). The last change was with 102.6. So if it worked correctly with 102.6, something else might be responsible - try just disabling and re-enabling the 2.4 GHz radio to restart it.

Can't uncheck b/g Protection either, so something is odd here. Might have to do a reset. I don't have anything important using the 2.4 GHz band, so it's not a major issue.

Try just restarting that radio before resetting everything else.

Webui level issues wouldn't surprise me due to the recent changes. I already provided a number of fixes to Asus over the past few months.

I just uploaded a 3006.102.7_1 test build for the RT-BE92U, based off GPL 102_39848. I have been unable to reproduce the CPU crashes / clock rollback issues with that new build.

Please give this build a try.

I just flashed the 3006.102.7_1 test build on my RT-BE92U. It's only been a few hours, but so far, the feeling with this new GPL is really good. Everything is running smoothly, and all my AiMesh nodes and clients reconnected flawlessly.

My BE92U is acting purely as an AP, hardwired to my main BE88U (which has its WiFi disabled) 😊. Because I don't have any LAN ports populated on the BE92U, I actually never experienced the ethernet crashes or clock rollback issues on the previous beta anyway. Still, I wanted to jump on this test build to verify general stability with the new GPL.

I've also noticed a couple of very welcome GUI/cosmetic fixes with this new code:

  • 6GHz Client Display: My OnePlus 15 (Wi-Fi 7) used to either disappear completely from the client list or show up as connected via Ethernet when on the 6GHz band. Now it stably shows up with the proper 6GHz badge. I know other users mentioned that enabling MLO bypassed this UI glitch, but I purposely keep MLO disabled because it causes issues with my 85" Sony TV when streaming very heavy 60GB+ MKV files from my shared folders. It's great to see this fixed even with MLO turned off!
  • Wired Clients: The ethernet icon for devices hardwired was always correct, but now the GUI explicitly displays the word "Wired" underneath the icon. It's a minor aesthetic detail, but a nice little addition.
So far, everything is perfect. I will keep an eye on it over the next few days, but it feels rock-solid.

Thanks for the quick update!

@RMerlin on "3006.102.7_1" for RT-BE92U in Wireless router mode:

1. Couldn't save the professional settings @ https://www.asusrouter.com:8443/Advanced_WAdvanced_Content.asp - the menu items on the left were missing and clicking apply didn't do anything. I cleared my browser cache too but no luck.
2. Couldn't connect via 5Ghz to my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019. 2.4 GHz did work but that's not ideal personally. Other peripherals seemed to work fine.
3. Somehow the GUI felt slower than usual?

First 2 are dealbrakers for me.

I'm comparing to latest official firmware from ASUS.

Can confirm issue 1 - Wireless Professional Settings GUI isn't working.
No WiFi issues though - all devices connecting as normal. No slow down in GUI either.

1) Javascript error, I'll look into it.
2) I also own a Shield TV 2019. I just connected it without any problem to the 5 GHz band. It's currently playing a 3+ hours Youtube stream. Make sure your Shield Experience is up-to-date, and double check your settings.
3) Feels just the same to me.
