Hey,

I've been messing around with using the router as a client for NordVPN, forcing certain devices to use that vpn connection. Everything was working fine when all the sudden, the TV just stopped getting internet altogether. Even after I removed it from the list of clients that used the VPN connection, it couldn't get it to work. (Maybe because of the block when tunnel goes down?)

My solution was to manually assign a new IP address on the TV, that way I could use the internet again.

When I look at the Network map I see the TV is using static and working but "2 clients are connecting to RT-AX88U through this device" ?

It feels like some residual settings in the VPN client section were still trying to force the TV (before switching to static ip) through the VPN even though I removed it. Where are the configuration files for it kept so maybe I can check that?

did the nordvpn server go down? they chop and change available servers regularly

They may have, but I have since then changed / added new servers and tried switching the TV client around, even turning all VPN clients off and removing the TV client from forced VPN routes. Even when the TVs' mac and IP address were removed from using VPN it couldn't connect to the internet normally. I had to manually set a different static IP address in the TV to get the connection working again.

The problem persists, IPAD had the same problem. Had to change IP addresses on them to get internet working again. It's like the router is trying to redirect them through a VPN client that is down/no longer exists, even though I've removed them from the list of clients to route. Also the clients no longer appear on the drop down list when I try to add them to a different client, like they are still in use somewhere else.

You dont have any client in policy rule list. You must have atleast one or make a dummy one.

Client VPN
Can you please change the Thread Title to be more specific? Looks like you have Problems with NordVPN...

My VPN Client setup on AirVPN does not have problems for years...

I only showed the screenshot to demonstrate that the names of the IPAD and the TV no longer appear on the drop down list.

What do your network map show?

Both clients show up on the Network map, albeit the TV is now under a static IP instead of DHCP since I manually set an IP address for it in the TV settings interface. In order to get a different IP address for the IPAD on wifi I changed to DHCP pool in the router to get a new IP. Once they got a new IP address internet would work again on them.

I also find it strange that recently so many clients have this icon on them in the Network map. When I hover over it, it says "2 clients are connecting to RT-AX88U through this device" (2 sometimes 3).

Do you have your static ip in dhcp pool or outside? You get "2clients" when you change ip on same MAC adress" no harm with that.
Put your prefered clients in VPN policyrule and try again. Ther must be atleast one otherwise routing table not been created.
