I need an easy way to disable the wifi, and was a bit disappointed to see that it's a bit tedious to configure in the router.

I seem to remember scheduling and the ability to set the switches on the router to different functions, or am I thinking of an older router?

What firmware are you running on the router?
Do you want to set a schedule to turn the WiFi on or off, or do you just want to turn the WiFi off entirely?
Do you want the Guest Network WiFi to turn off in addition to the main WiFi?
Is this a main router or a AiMesh Node?

Some routers have a WiFi button on the side for turning on/off the WiFi.
Depending on the firmware version the WiFi Scheduling feature may not work properly either with the main LAN WiFi or with the Guest Network WiFi.

Hello!
Anything that makes it simple to turn it on and off. A schedule would be OK. Or use on the switches on the front of the router to turn it on and off. The switch on the front is for the LEDs, though (the most useless thing I can think to turn on and off).
Looking further it seems there is scheduling but it blocks devices rather than just switching off the Wifi. It just would be simpler to turn it off rather than block individual items.
I think I am out of luck with this. Seems there is no simple way to turn it on and off, other than logging on to the router and manually changing the settings.

Maybe be more descriptive about what you are looking for if logging into the router's GUI (or using the Asus app) is not considered simple.

SSH example for the 2.4GHz band (one may need to adjust/test for their specific router model/environment):

nvram set wl0.1_radio=0
service restart_wireless

SSH Example for the 5GHz band:

nvram set wl1.2_radio=0
service restart_wireless

In the Merlin 3006 firmware for my router (never used stock) there's a function in Adminitration>System to change the function of the WPS button. Can't speak for your router/firmware though.
Just thinking out loud.

Ah, so, if I look in to this, I can create two batch files, one to turn it on and one to turn it off.

As previously indicated certain Asus routers have a external WiFi button that will toggle the WiFi radios. As @Ripshod indicated the Asus-Merlin firmware has an option to change the behavior of the external WPS button to toggle the WiFi radio. Example Administration > System > WPS Button behavior option in Asus-Merlin 3006.102.4 firmware:

All depends on what external buttons, if any, the GT-AX11000 Pro has and what firmware one is running on it.

If you don't have a external WiFi or external WPS button, then one would have to try and use other methods, like the NVRAM method indicated above, to control their router's WiFi radio if they don't want to either access the GUI to disable the WiFi radio, or set WiFi scheduling, or use the Asus router mobile app to control their WiFi radio behavior.

Yes. Alas I can't find the configuration to allow it to toggle the radio.

I think, in the AX11000 it's been replaced with the "Boost Key Behavior" which actually refers the LED button. Alas the function of the LED button can not be set to disable the WiFi. The WPS button is fixed as, well, WPS!

I think my best bet is to study SSH and see if I can create two batch files, one to turn the 2.4GHz on and one to turn it off.

As previously asked, what firmware are you running on the router? Stock Asus or Asus-Merlin?

PS: Check the Basic Config section under Administration > System if you haven't done so already.
