BE-RT92U, ZenWifi Pro ET12, RT-AX88U Pro Aimesh

I have a RT-BE92U as my Aimesh router and 2x ZenWifi Pro ET12 and 1x RT-AX88U Pro as Aimesh nodes.

How does this mix influences the WiFi availability? I see a low strength on the 6G band even though I am only 3m away from the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 which seems to suggest my iPhone is connecting to the RT-BE92U.

Is it possible to turn off WiFi on the router or nodes if I do not want it to provide WiFi?

What is the backhaul - ethernet or wifi ?

try forgetting the wifi network in your phone. reconnect.

Client determines when to switch, not the wifi router or AP/node.

Should be able to turn off the radios in the router then. i have not tried. If you need to do so in the nodes, i suspect you will have to convert them to AP mode and then adjust the radios.

Try, under AiMesh on the GUI, select the node you want to turn off it's radio, then on the left select Management, then down to enable radio, then toggle the radio or radio's you want to turn off on the node. At least that's the way it comes up for me and my set up 🤷‍♂️

Thanks ! This is how it shows for me as well. I found that I can disable the radios of the AiMesh router under Wireless > Professional without impacting the radios of the Aimesh nodes.

There's a setting that frees up bandwidth under General -> AiMesh -> System Settings (tab) :

Ethernet Backhaul Mode (it is a toggle switch. There is a little "i" that gives a description of what it does).

I am running 2.5G Ethernet backhaul to my nodes.

You have to stop buying routers at random first. AiMesh is quite fragile, doesn't tolerate well mix-and-match and doesn't scale well. You currently have total mess of BE/AXE/AX-class routers and obviously can't have any consistency across this... network. Your client devices have to switch constantly between Wi-Fi standards and frequency bands. With Ethernet infrastructure available consider SMB class equipment for your next upgrade. Low cost options are Ubiquiti UniFi and TP-Link Omada. Both better than consumer mesh... mess.

While I do understand the sentiment, very few routers support the 10G v6plus standard and most (all?) of them are consumer routers.

So what businesses use in your country? Republic of Gamers Rapture with RGB lights?

Eventually I separated my BE AiMesh from my AX(E)/AC (AX and AC) AiMesh. I did this my switching my primary AXE router to Access Point Mode with AiMesh, and added all AX and AC routers to this mesh. Then you have more flexibility to manipulate the BE network settings without worry about how it affects the AX network.

Something worth trying in your case as well. I enable WiFi Agile Multiband on all Channels/SSIDs. So far smooth transitions among nodes when walking around with my cellphone on WiFi...
