Just got Rapture GT-AX11000, old router is wifi 5 AC model. Router must stay in a specific room, which makes it awkward for other rooms. My goal is to achieve the highest speeds possible with any method of extending I decide to use.
My question is, if I used my old router as an extender what are the implications? Obviously it will be using WiFi 5 so a downgrade, is there another operation mode for Asus routers that could purely push the WiFi 6 signal although it's a wifi 5 router?
I also use Merlin so will want to persist as many of those add-ons as possible.
Right now I use a TP-Link extender wired into my devices which works fine but this thing is wifi 5 also so may have to upgrade. What would be the best option for my setup, get new wifi 6 extenders and just replace the ones I have or use the router as repeater?
