Can I increase the Engenius 9850 performance anymore than this?

Phew, I figured out how to get back into the router which locked me out 2 hours later.....

After reading the review here, I did the following for maximizing 'throughput' or what us newbs loosely call, 'speed'

- Changed WPA key to WPA2/AES

- changed bandwidth mode from AUTO 20/40 to 20 MHz

-changed 2.4 GHz (b+g+n) channel to 1 (default was 11)


Please remember that the parrot only repeated the human's words here, without understanding diddly and I did these changes on the router, cause Tim did the same.

anything else I can do to make this puppy run faster?

Default firmware 1.09 has 10% better signal performance in the wireless end. Firmware 1.12 has the best routing on the wired side but then you loose the 10% in wireless signal in any mode.

I use on the AP the mix mode has I have mix device. Auto for Channel selection but Check Channel time is set to no schedule. I don't see any point using 20Hz on 802.11n where 40Hz works better with it. 802.11g devices use 20Hz I set it to 20/40Hz. Degrade is slight on the mix mode, but not much for me to nothing it.

Which wireless adapters are you using? The old PCMICA 32-bit ones are slower than new crop of USB. I've just ordered some more dirt cheap N300 and replace some of the older G54 units.

Sorry I do not know, what is an adapter?
you mean hard wire modem perhaps? My sony Viao has built in Wireless/bluetooth if that is what you mean.
I did follow the rest of the settings, 20/40, auto channel etc
