CES 2019: Netgear Announces SMB IPv6-Ready Switches, Mesh Satellite And More

NETGEAR bundled its small-biz products into one press release, so here's the story.

NETGEAR’s Smart Managed Pro S350 IPV6-ready series of switches will be available in five different models, each with 2 or 4 SFP ports. The new S350 lineup will be available in 8-, 24-, and 48-port GbE configurations, as well as two other models with 8- and 24-ports that include POE+.

Aside from their Layer 2 functions, advanced Smart Managed Pro S350 features include L2/L3/L4 ACLs, QoS, Link Aggregation Control Protocol, and Spanning Tree Protocol.

NETGEAR also released the PoE-powered Orbi Pro Mesh Wi-Fi Ceiling Satellite that connects to the Orbi Pro Router or other Orbi satellites via NETGEAR’s FastLane3-enabled backhaul.

Next item on the list is NETGEAR’s Insight Managed Smart Cloud Tri-Band 4x4 Wireless Access Point. The business-class WAC540 is a tri-band device that provides a total maximum link rate of 3 Gbps. Aside from supporting hundreds of clients, and providing business-class performance and commercial-grade security, its other features include band-steering, beamforming, load-balancing, airtime fairness and seamless roaming.

The SMB-targeted WAC124 AC2000 Wi-Fi router was designed to be low-cost and easy to install. The 4x4 MU-MIMO WAC124 has maximum link rates of 300 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 1734 Mbps and supports up to three separate SSIDs. Interfaces include 5 GbE ports (one WAN, four LAN) with Auto Uplink and one (unspecified) USB port.

Lastly, NETGEAR’s Insight network management tools also get updates.

The Insight Cloud Management solution helps SMB manage their networks, from new devices like the aforementioned WAC540 and Orbi Pro Ceiling Satellite, to other interconnected devices. Features now include Radio Resource Management that optimizes APs for fast setup, RADIUS authentication on Insight switches, and Device Backup and Restore management.

Insight Pro, another management tool, is designed for VARs to run their managed services networks at a low TCO. New features include new Insight Pro Custom Reports for troubleshooting, health, change logs and inventory, Network Location Configurations for rapid deployment of wired and wireless networks, and Device Backup and Restore that includes backup versioning and a quick setup feature that uses copy/paste to configure devices using saved device configs.
