Compatible Hardware for Client Bridge?

In another thread I am having problems getting my RT-AC66U and Atheros based Buffalo WHR-G300N routers to play nicely when the secondary (non-RT-AC66U) router is in Client Bridge Routed mode (i.e. a single network spanning the wireless connection)...

Do people have similar configurations that work? Which hardware?

Before I jump in and just buy a second RT-AC66U I thought I should check it worked and perhaps might try a lower cost compatible combination first.

If nobody actually has such a configuration working then maybe I need to drop the RT-AC66U entirely.

Thanks in advance

I am thinking of swapping out my Buffalo WHR-G300N for an Asus RT-N16...

What do you think? Is that combination more likely to work?

(I don't think I can justify buying another RT-AC66U after the issues I've run into).

I've decided to give up on the RT-AC66U for now. My experiences with unstable bridging across 802.11n (and a few other accounts of similar experience) mean that this hardware/firmware combination isn't right for me just now.

I considered buying a 2nd RT-AC66U to at least remove any uncertainty regarding compatibility between chipsets (Broadcom <> Atheros) but the instability I've seen means that I can't really risk another £160+.

I did like the hardware and it's definitely got potential but at the moment I'm not convinced the RT-AC66U really works if you are trying a network where Client Bridging is required.

Asus RT-N66U and Buffalo WHR g300n v2

I've got the ASUS as master router and the Buffalo as client bridge with the latest DD-WRT firmware. It works pretty well. I have Bluray, TV, STB and HTPC plugged into the buffalo.

I can stream bluray rips peaking at 60Mb/s to my TV from my Synology NAS which is directly connected to the Asus,

So it is possible to get Broadcom to Atheros working in this mode.
