Constant disconnection - IP conflict/WAN Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function...

New Around Here
Hey guys. I'm having constant disconnection problems with my router. Every 15 minutes to about 1 hour I get disconnect problems, especially when there are a couple of us using the internet (family of four, more than 7 connections). I'm not sure what the problem is specifically, as I'm not too familiar with networking. I also just upgraded my optimum online bandwith to boost plus, which is a lot faster than I had previously. I thought upgrading would fix a problem but I've been getting these problems before I had the upgraded bandwith. Also, I was having disconnect problems with my old netgear router and am still having these problems with my new asus router so it may be a networking issue? I appreciate the help guys.

Here are the system logs before two of the disconnects:

This morning I also assigned a few of the computer to specified IP's but that hasn't changed anything

Those logs only show the reconnection, they don't show the disconnection itself, so it's impossible to tell for sure. However seeing a log entry referring to Ethernet going up, I would suspect that the Ethernet connection between the modem and the router might have gone down (again, this was in the missing part). I would check the Ethernet cable between the router and the modem. Replace it with one that is labeled as being Cat5e or Cat6 - older Cat5 cables do not work properly since this router has a gigabit port.

Okay sorry about that, wasn't too sure what portion of the logs to post but here's a little more (i hope) on a recent disconnection.

Your router seems to have trouble obtaining a DHCP lease from your ISP. It seems to obtain a LAN lease, and try again every 20 secs until your ISP finally hands out a proper lease. I would suspect a problem with your modem or your ISP, sounds like your modem gets rebooted, and while it's still trying to re-establish the connection with the ISP, it temporarily hands out local IPs.

Monitor your modem closely, and see if it seems to reboot or lose connection with your ISP.

I dont suppose you're on Comcast are you? The past 72hrs I've had an absolute nightmare with it dropping the connection pretty much every day between 10pm and 1am.

Initially I assumed it was a router process that was running daily (traffic monitoring etc) but having reset to factory defaults again today I'm pretty sure its Comcast 'upgrading the network'
