Crashes with router and custom firmware

New Around Here
Does anyone know if there is anywhere to download older versions of this firmware?

I'm getting random crashes of the router using 3.0.3.3-042, which I installed after having issues with the official firmware.

I can't even connect to the admin page when it crashes, as it comes up with the following message:

A change has been made, causing disconnection to setting page.
You may made the change in changing IP address, changing port number or disconnecting Wi-Fi to RT-N56U.
Please re-connect Wi-Fi and use modified IP address and port number to access setting page of RT-N56U.

I read somewhere that rolling back to an older version might solve the issue but I can't find any older versions anywhere on the net.

Or does someone know how I can solve this problem? Initially the reason why I went to this firmware is that I was getting random disconnects to the internet (but it was connecting to the router ok). I've still had this problem on the custom firmware but less frequently. Now it looks like it's disconnecting entirely. The lights and everything on the router light up correctly.

put it in rescue mode and use rescue utility. try using the new release which is 3.0.3.4-048.
in case u dont know how to put it in rescue mode, turn of the router then turn it back on while holding the reset button until u see blinking led. use the rescue utility from asus' support website. let me know if it works. =)

Your title is deceiving because you are not using custom firmware, you are using official firmware.

I just ran into this same issue though - simply because it was available I upgraded the firmware on my router that has been running perfectly for two years. Two days in and the router has crashed and I cannot connect to my home exchange server or ftp and I cannot even get to the admin page of the router as it gives me the error as stated in the first post.

This wouldn't upset me as much if I was at home and could simply unplug the router and plug it back in (and then revert my firmware to the older, more stable version). Sadly, I am not at home and now have no access to my network due to the new firmware.

since u mentioned about 2 year running fw. i need to know which fw u r talking about. i hated the -042 as well. -40 is the only one that works for me very well. now im running -049 and hoping not to give me any problems.

I was on ASUS RT-N56U Firmware version 1.0.1.7f (2011/11/21) but it had been running without any crashes before that as well.

I upgraded to ASUS RT-N56U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.342 (2013/02/08) and was very impressed with the new GUI and options, even though I don't plan on using any of them. Sadly it crashed :(

It looks like there are newer version numbers being mentioned, but I'm grabbing mine directly from the ASUS website: http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN56U/#support_Download_30

I was just reading up on the 3.0.3.* firmware which appears to be from here: http://code.google.com/p/rt-n56u/ so my initial statement about non-custom was incorrect and I apologize. Though seeing as I am on official firmware I doubt that it has anything to do with the custom changes.
