Disable Alexa

RT-AX86U Pro running 3006.102.5

In running a protocol discovery app on my Mac I found that Alexa_TCP is coming from my AX86U. My home network is predominately an Apple Ecosystem and I do not want Alexa on it. Is there a way I can disable Alexa?

Go to the Administration - Tweaks page and disable Asusnat tunnel.

Did as you suggested, applied, and rebooted router. Protocol is still showing.

Not a critical need. Just wanted to make it go away.

It's part of mdns. There's no menu option to shut it down remove it so you'd have to run the following to temporarily disable remove it (along with the rest of mDNS):

service stop_mdns

alexa.service

So in looking at my system log after reboots, i see this: Service "" (/tmp/avahi/services/alexa.service) successfully established. I searched about the Alexa service, but everything i find, is about people **wanting** it to work, but having issues with their IoT devices NOT connecting. I have...

The key ones that are related to Alexa use are:

OUTPUT TCP/UDP - 40317

OUTPUT UDP - 1900, 50000, 5353, 33434, 49317

INPUT TCP/UDP - 40317

INPUT UDP - 1900, 50000, 5353, 33434, 49317

You could add these to the 'Firewall - Network Services Filter', to be blocked [IN / OUT as appropriate] if you are particularly paranoid.

Also check the Amazon Alexa page on the RT-AX86U Pro to see if it was enabled previously.
Check the Administration > Policy page to see if anything there mentions Alexa. If it does click the Withdraw button (if any) on the one mentioning Alexa.
Make sure to disable the Administration > System > Remote Access Config > Enable Web Access from WAN option.
And disable WAN > DDNS, if not using DDNS.

Asus would have to remove it on their end, or at least make installing Alexa-integration optional on install.

Not really. The Alexa integration is already optional. The OP's question was just in relation to the the mDNS service definition (DNS-SD). Obviously if you haven't setup Alexa/IFTTT on your router then it serves no purpose.

I've edited my previous post to use clearer terminology.
