DNS-based Filtering with Adblock ?

There are various scripts here and on linksysinfo (for Tomato) using router hosts file, for example

http://www.snbforums.com/threads/adblocking-with-combined-hosts-file.15309/

or a router proxy

http://www.snbforums.com/threads/how-to-adblock-plus-filters-right-on-router.9449/

My preference is for a special list provided by pgl.yoyo

http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/news.php#dnsmasq

which uses a powerful feature of dnsmasq to block (or redirect to null image serving pixelserv) all sub domains of a target domain - seems to get 80% of ads with 20% of the resources. I'm not a big fan of auto downloading/updating blocklists - because if you break router DNS you get a lot of complaints from users! If you break the dnsmasq.conf file by linking to non-existent or not ready usb files then lan dhcp doesn't even work...
