DS214Play reviews?

So I'm one of the unclean NASless ones and have been looking around to see what I should get. I like the idea of the DS214play for the extra hardware transcoding chip, and while I'd like a 4 bay, I probably don't need it right away. That being the case, I read the reviews on Newegg for the DS214Play and they state that it cannot actually do transcoding... which is the major selling point of that model.

So I come on here to see if anyone has any real world experience with one that they could share.

As I'd expect, the transcoding and HDMI out isn't great. That should be done by the TV or a Roku type box.
A NAS is a disk hot rod. Not so, for CPU intensive transcoding/video, even with a chip-assist.

The 214Play is marketed towards people wanting to transcode movies but I bought this particular model for its ability to handle mac file permissions and, with its Intel processor, to directly read/write mac formatted HFS+ external discs. That has been a pain with Buffalo ... and not sure about QNAP.

It's also very fast, runs cool and seems, IMHO, to be the best of the 214 line. The 214+ has two LAN connectors but I guess for most home users that will not be of any use.
