Factory Reset and JFFS Problem - RT-BE86U

No, no and no, please read my first post. Nothing like that happened, I want to perform a full hard reset including clearing the settings from the router's memory.

Well, something happen, or is happening, that is preventing the standard hard factory reset or the router GUI reset w/restore to default checkbox checked from erasing the current router settings. Try the CFE recovery.

This happened after installing the Skynet add-on. The second add-on I tried to install was scMerlin. But the scMerlin completely destroyed the WebUI.
With all due respect to the authors of the add-ons, but they have not been tested with the new software.

Many of the addon's have been extensively tested with the 3006.102.x firmware and many issues have been ferreted out and fixed. Other addons have been found not to work and have been depreciated for use on the 3006.102.x firmware. There is a large thread at the following link (if you haven't seen it already) where people were testing the various addon's on 3006.102.x:

With any addon under the 3006.102.x firmware one should ensure they've updated to the very latest version. This may possibly include manually updating to a "develop" version not installed through AMTM. Check the specific developer's site for any updates or special instructions.

If you feel your issue is related to an addon, then post (if you haven't done so already) in the respective addon discussion topic to see if the developer has any ideas or if they can opine as to if their script could cause the issue(s) you are experiencing.

On a side note. If you have a USB drive(s) attached to the router, disconnect that USB drive(s) before doing a firmware update and or before doing a router reset and do not reattach the USB drive until the router is verified as operating correctly. And as a troubleshooting step (if one hasn't done so already) they could try flashing a previous version of the firmware, either stock Asus or Asus-Merlin. Note the Asus-Merlin Change log 3006.102.3 (11-Jan-2025) note on changing an NVRAM value to enable downgrade capabilities if flashing on top of stock Asus firmware 3006.102_37000 or later. Then after changing firmware try performing a reset and see if the reset takes. And as a troubleshooting step, disabled all web browser addons and any security programs running on the computer if one hasn't done so already.

Edit to add: Also, if you haven't done so already, check the router's system log to see if there are any errors. While rare, could be a hardware failure has cropped up and is preventing a proper reset of the firmware data.

^^^^^^ This.
I've been thinking this myself from reading these symptoms.
