Getting low signal help

Famia

New Around Here
On my desktop I'm getting only 1-2 bars of signal (using windows zero config) on a WUSB600N adapter connecting to a WRT610N router. (to be exact 1 bar on 5ghz 802.11N and 2 bars on 802.11G, WPA2 encryption)

I tried checking using 2 laptops at home on the exact same spot my adapter is placed and they both are getting high signal. 4-5 bars, vista using windows zero config utility on an asus laptop (built-in adapter), don't know model (atmost 1.5yrs old) and 4/6 bar xp using netgear smart wizard (netgear adapter tried on 802.11G only) on an old twinhead laptop (atleast 5 yrs old)

My motherboard is a gigabyte EP35-DS4, running windows 7 if it matters. Is there anyway to make the signal higher or should I even care I'm only getting 1-2 bars of signal? I'm not getting any drop packets that I can notice while surfing, downloading or gaming.

If your performance is fine, then don't worry about the signal strength indication. You can try disabling the internal adapters on your laptops and moving the WUSB600N to them and see what you get.

Disable any power saving mode on the NIC on the desktop if such a feature is available. Also make show all offload are enabled. Peak power will flip/flop then go back solid.

Thanks for the input. I go ahead and disabled to power saving option. That's it for now. I'll just leave it be for now since it's working fine.
