New Around Here
Hello All,

I am tearing my hair out trying to get my Google Home Hub (rebranded to Google Nest Hub) to connect to my WiFi. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction...

Environment:
I am running an Asus AC86U on latest stock firmware (3.0.0.4.386_44470-g53bccb8 which I updated today). My settings are essentially defaults except for changes that I have found as possible fixes in my google searching, I can do a full factory reset if it helps in diagnosing the issue further.

Behavior:
When I plug the Home Hub (Nest Hub) in, I go through the setup steps and appears to get stuck on "Connecting to Network" or "Check Internet Connection" error. I hve confirmed with Google's support team that if I connect to a hotspot on my phone (bypassing my Asus router) that the home hub connects to it fine and comes online happily.

From the Asus router itself, I can see that the device gets an IP address (which I statically assign with DHCP to help with troubleshooting). If I run TCPDump looking for the device's IP, I get some interesting messages about unreachable addresses:

Aside from these, I cannot identify anything that would be causing a problem on the network...

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be going wrong and causing the problem? Or further troubleshooting steps to try?

Use Dual Band Smart connect
2.4 GHz at 20 MHz on fixed channel
5 GHz at 80 MHz on channel 36 or 149
A hard factory reset for the router may be in order.
And static addresses are assigned at the client. The router does manually assigned via DHCP.
SSID and passphrase alpha numeric only!

I will try the band settings you suggested.

I use static IPs on some of my devices (assigned at the device) and the google home hub / nest hub is using a "Manually Assigned IP around the DHCP list" (as per ASUS GUI).

Just an FYI... the router auto- and manually-assigned IPs should be within the router's DHCP IP pool; client static IPs outside it.

Yep, statics are all above 100 (except the router that’s on .1). Manually assigned IP for the home hub is on .12 which is within the dhcp range.
