How to remember name resolution across reboots

New Around Here
Hi,

I noticed that if I change a configuration value or reboot my RT-N66U then name resolution stops working until each of my hosts requests a new lease from the router. Is there any way to maintain this information across reboots? The Network Map seems to find the hosts so I was hoping there was a way for the DNS server to do so as well.

Any help would be much appreciated!

You could create DHCP reservations, in which case their names will be used.

You can also create a custom host file, tho it's not good practice - dynamic IPs aren't 100% guaranteed to not change unless they are reserved.

Thanks for the quick reply! "DHCP reservations" means manually associating the mac with the ip/name on the LAN/DHCP Server page? Is there any way to automate this? e.g. do a reservation after the first lease?

Use the pull down for the MAC address, select the MAC you want. The current IP populates. Keep it or change it, name it, and accept it. Next time that MAC address requests an IP, it will get pulled from the reservation.

Except for addresses on the other side of a bridge, where you have to enter them manually.
