I also have one older GL.iNet Slate travel router with WISP, but remember it was having issues connecting to hotspots with captive portals. I don't know if newer GL.iNet models made improvements for different connectivity scenarios, but even dedicated travel router is not guaranteed to work everywhere. Some places offering hotspots block VPN connections on top.
