Interference from 2.4GHz Wi-Fi mouse?

New Around Here
I'm shopping for a wireless mouse, and they all seem to use the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band. I have a dual-band N router now, but the built-in client in my newest laptop can't use the 5GHz band, and I'm not dying to buy a dual-band client for it.

I imagine a lot of you out there are using wireless mice on the 2.4GHz band - has anyone noticed any interference or degradation of Internet access while using it?

no.

I have seen what I think is interference TO a wireless mouse's receiver from WiFi - where the WiFi access point/router is too close to the receiver.

They are harder to find, but a Bluetooth mouse won't cause Wi-Fi interference. Even though it operates in the 2.4 GHz band, current BT and WiFi chipsets talk to each other to prevent interference.

the amount of air-time used by the non-BT mouse won't be noticeable in WiFi performance.

BT does frequency hopping whereas WiFi does not. So BT transmits less frequently on the same area of spectrum as the WiFi router's channel, but again, the air-time used by a mouse is insignificant.
