IPv6 started working intermittently until reboot

I'm using Merlin 380.61 on my AC-3100 (Ac-88u) and have been for a month without issue until today when something really weird started happening on both my iOS devices (which have been on iOS 10 for a week) at the same time.

I noticed some web pages were timing out occasionally so I decided to run some tests and found that IPv6 test sometimes passed and sometimes failed. Even when they passed it took a long time for them to complete. I tried switching to cellular data (IPv6 works over T-Mobile and AT&T near me) and the tests worked. Turned wifi back on and was having issues.

The system IPv6 logs showed IPv6 for the router, but nothing for clients.

I ended up rebooting the router and both iOS devices. After that everything worked as expected. Though I did see semi frequent dropping of pings to the router for awhile. Not sure why.

When things weren't working IPv6.google.com would take forever to load and the following page never loaded: http://ipv6.whatismyv6.com/

Any ideas what was going on?

What's going on is Asus has done something in the code that has made IPv6 unstable and not function properly. This has carried over to Merlins firmware as well. Have no idea if Asus or even Merlin is aware of the issue or if or when it will ever get fixed.

You can roll back to older firmware I'm using 380.858 on my 3100 and IPv6 is rock solid and the router works great.

I loaded up the 380.62-beta1 temporarily since I'm trying to work with someone on some Sky UK IPv6 problems and I saw your post about some potential base problems. However, for me IPv6 worked perfectly. If you ever try a later build again, can you telnet/ssh and enter

nvram set ipv6_debug=1
nvram commit

Then capture a syslog after a reboot.

Hi John. Not sure what has changed but something has at least on my 3100. Every time I load either Asus latest or Merlins IPv6 becomes an issue primarily with the router obtaining a v6 address. I have to constantly reboot over and over to get the router to even work with v6 as soon as I revert back to older code the issues completely disappears and v6 works perfect the first time every time.

And yes I am doing a complete factory reset and manually reconfiguring each code load. So as stated not sure what happened but there is definatally something going on.

On another note v6 seems to work well with your code on my trusted N66U. :)
