Linksys e4200 poor lan throughput

latprod

New Around Here
Hey guys,
I decided to check my lan speeds the other day, and to my utter disgust it wasn't good.
I tried using both I'm using DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/19/12) big - build 18777 and stock firmware, but it makes no difference

I have gigabit all the way from the router, via a gigabit switch, to the computer. My computer and switch is showing a gigabit link, but when testing with iperf i only get 96,4mbit throughput at the most. I used a laptop plugged into the router as a client, and my desktop computer on the other end of the switch as the server. If i try to connect the laptop directly into the switch and circumventing the router, speeds are immediately up to around 980 mbit/s. It seems as if the ports on the linksys are choking the connection somehow, as if they were plain ethernet ports, but i cant figure out why.
I use cat5e cables atm. Any ideas? Is it the wrong build or something?

Which version do you have on the hardware side. After using DD-WRT on may end it worked then choked. Overheating is the issue. I don't use this one anymore it's mostly kept in a box. EA4500 no better same issue overheats when the getting gets good!

Thanks, I don't know if that is the issue or not.
It's the v1, not v2.
It's weird because now it's worse than ever, after trying to switch between firmwares. Do you recommend another router perhaps?

intra-LAN - PC to PC on same LAN - should be just ethernet switch traffic, of course. Router functions (in DD-WRT) should not be involved. No doubt you've checked the Link Lights on the switches to ensure all are showing 1000BT connections for the relevant PCs.

Yeah, that's what is so weird about all this. There should be no router functionality involved at all, and yet, it peaks at 94,6 as if they are ethernet and not gigabitethernet.
The 1000bt lights on the unmanaged switch are on, but as far as i can see the link lights on the switch ports on the e4200 are just a link and an activity light.
I actually forgot to check if the pc's are showing 1 gbps when directly connected to the router. That was a pretty bad slip, will have to recheck after work.
