Lost: 5Ghz radio RT-N66U unable to activate!

I've got it backed up. I can't figure out how to send it to you. The file is too big to attach it here and pm's don't seem to allow attachments.

I think there is a few number of routers with no pci/x/x init at all:)

That could be the reason, just like a few RT-AC66U shipped with a faulty (or even missing?) firmware flash. Flashing power led out of the box, flashing the router through recovery would sort these DOA out.

Very nice firmware in deed thanks to Andy Padavan and the rest!!

Since i have internet Disconnects from the ISP side i want to be able to connect to my mobile hotspot via the BN750DB. i have tried the AP and AP client mode (while in operation->router mode) but for some reason the router does not show up in the connected devices of the android Hotspot list even when i keep the hotspot open. I have made sure to keep the hotspot channels same and security open to make sure they connect.

Since many of my Office Devices are on Static IP i do not want to use the Operation->AP mode.

Is there any possible Mistake that i my have been doing.

or is it completely impossible to connect as a AP-Client on Operation->Router Mode.

IMO the only problem that is there is to allow apclii0 with udhcpc and wan.
is that possible?

Issue caused by Tomato

I hate to dredge up an older post but I have the same issue. No 5GHz band at all.
It all started when i flashed Shibby Tomato on my spare RT-N66U just to see how it was different from Merlin. After the successful flash I noticed that the 5GHz was not there anymore. After several resets and and clearing the NVRAM as suggested it still was missing, so I flashed back to Merlin. Still no 5Ghz.
There is no MAC address for it under the System tab either.
Any ideas what I should attempt next? I have two of these so I can use one as a comparison.
I did watch the log file as suggested earlier in this thread and there is no mention of the eth2 when the radio reboots.

same problem over here with RT-N66U

I have the same problem too. I flashed from tomato to asus-merlin then back to tomatousb and lost my 5 GHz. Not even showing up in status overview.

From what I understand, you have to update your CFE.bin with a version like (1.0.1.3). But before you can do that, you'll have to edit this file with your router's info (mac address).

I'm looking for more info about how to do that.

I can help with this output too since mine is jacked up in the same way. Is it from PuTTY or how do I get the output for you?

Edit: I used Putty and copied/pasted that command. I got an output from the command but am not sure how to save it to a file to send?

bruno99, not only a CFE can be a reason of 5GHz disappearing. Please, provide an output of following command in PM:
Code:

By the way, here is the code I got when I was connected via serial (pay attention to the last lines where Eth2 doesn't look to be enabled):[/B]

I had to create another post since it exceeds 10000 characters.

CFE NVRAM variables looks healthy, no need to touch it.

You may try to reset NVRAM by this way. If it won't help then better to report this issue to Shibby.

Thanks Ryzhov_al,

But it didn't work. I don't know what else to do...

update: I finally found a work around to make it work. I just restored an old configuration file and my 5GHz came back. I just don't have to make a NVRAM erase.

What do you mean by restoring an old configuration file?
Did you have a back up of your settings and restored that? Or did you flash an older version of Merlin or an older Factory?
I have the same missing 5Ghz issue since flashing Tomato so I would like to fix mine also. I do have 2 identical routers so if it needs a backup file restored I can make on with my good router and flash it on my broken router.

I had a backup of my settings. I just restored it after an upgrade (shibby v 119) and it is working fine since fews days. Without a glitch with both 2.4 and 5 GHz.
