New Around Here
I have a 2008 QNAP TS 209 Pro II, two hard disks in it, each 1TB, neither as old as the NAS because over time the HDs have been replaced one at a time, at least twice each. The TS-209 seems to have died but the HDs are good. Is there a NAS I can buy that I can drop the old disks in to and have them working without losing the data on them? My understanding at moment is the newer models will likely require the HDs to be reformat during first time configuration. If possible I would like to retreive the data off them first.

Double check with QNAP - but generally you should be able to pick up another QNAP and drop the drives in and go from there..
