Brand new AC86U in Wireless Router Mode

Xfinity Gigabit

XB7 in Bridge mode

ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING works great EXCEPT when I connect to my work VPN.

My work uses Pulse Secure VPN client. It worked perfectly fine with my XB7.

But it does not work at all on my new ASUS. I tried two different computers; a Windows 10 PC and a Mac Book Pro. I also tried both wired and wireless. All produce the same symptoms and the same error. It won't connect and says,
"The Remote Access server was unable to allocate a network address."

My ASUS is using the most recent ASUS firmware.

Jus to make sure, I turned off the ASUS, and turned off Bridge mode on the XB7 and used that again for testing and it still works great with my work VPN.

The only settings on the ASUS AC86U I changed were:

* DISABLED Airtime Fairness
* DISABLED Universal Beamforming for both 2.4 and 5 GHZ

Also these settings came pre-configured by ASUS:

  • Dual WAN is turned OFF
  • DMZ is OFF
  • NAT passthrough is ON
  • DDNS is ON
  • AI Protection/Trend Micro is OFF
  • QoS is OFF
  • VPN is OFF
  • My LAN IP starts at 192.168.50.1
  • WAN Connection Type is AUTOMATIC IP
  • Port Trigger is OFF
  • Port Forwarding is OFF
  • Local VPN is OFF
  • Firewall is ON

I'm not sure what I could do. I don't want to randomly turn stuff on and off.

Does anyone know anything about this? Or anything I could try?

Thanks!

What IP address range did the XB7 use?

OE

Thanks! I did see that thread when searching for a solution, but sadly it did not help me in my current situation. I do have the latest ASUS firmware, Pulse client, and version of Windows 10. Thanks again!
Try assigning a static IP address and DNS server in your client, Windows or MAC. Use the same IP address the router DHCP assigns. Or change the DHCP range of the router and use a static IP outside of that range.

Thanks, do you mean do this inside the Asus router?

I am not sure, I would have to connect to it I think? I am pretty sure it's different

Ok the XB7 is using 10.0.0.1 while the new ASUS uses 192.168.50.1
You could try changing the Asus' LAN IP address range to what it was before, 10.0.0.1.
