New Around Here
My current router has been EOL'd (rt-87U). So I've started looking for a new router to replace mine. My network is all hardlined and I rarely turn on the wifi. My most important feature sets are, 1) best LAN throughput and, 2) security. It seems no one really ever talks about LAN speeds anymore. I would greatly appreciate some suggestions? I have used DDwrt for years, but I've absolutely fallen in love with merlinWRT and it's awesome small, tight knit community and dedicated entware devs. I would ideally like a router that I can continue using merlins firmware on, if at all possible. Although not what my ideal solution, I have also been contemplating just getting a LAN only firewall router and hardlining a AP to the network. I don't care about the latest, greatest wireless protocol. AC and even N is totally sufficient for me, so long as I can create segregated wLANs for guest and IOT outbound access and turn it on/off as needed. I am posting here first, because as I've mentioned, you guys are awesome and I'd really like to stay here.
Thank you,
A-

Thanks for the reply, any reason you suggest this particular model over any other? It seems a bit overkill for my needs. My current 87u LAN setup has three segments with a switch on port 1-3 for different regions of the house, and port 4 is connected to a NAS and a CCTV DVR. I only turn on my wireless radio for maybe an hour a month....
Are there any prospects for consumer routers that are/will have 2.5GB/10GB LAN?
