Does path MTU work or not on the Asus RT-N56U

interesting that you brought this up. I asked the same thing, and for this reason; rmerlin responded saying that the switch does indeed disable ALL icmp messages. since my wan mtu isn't 1500, i've intentionally allowed icmp messages for path mtu.

Indeed, the setting name should be "Respond ICMP Request from WAN" instead of "Respond Ping Request from WAN".

does it mean that if I have an MTU of 1500 (cable connection) I dosn´t have to change anything?

What would you like to change?
1500 is the maximum, your router is fine.
Older Windows versions did have troubles with 1500 and required some register tuning.

I was not sure if I understand correctly.

But if I play xbox and my MTU is 1500 and the MTU of some DSL Users is only 1468. They can´t receive my 1500 package. So my Package has to be splitted? But if path MTU not working how can my Router know that it have to change MTU?

Doesn´t I understand it correctly?

if the server receives smaller frames, it will respond in kind. no worries
