New Around Here
Hi

My first post here so please be kind.

I updated to the latest Merlin firmware today. But first I reset everything back to factory settings. Did it 2-3 times. Holding the reset button for 5 secs and then also the WDS method once the router rebooted.

Same after installing the new firmware.

And now, any unsecure webpages won't open :(

The only webpages I can open are the ones with https://

Anything else, and it just times out.

I have tried on both my macs and my iphone. But the issue is still there.

At my wit's end here. Could you please help me out :(

At this moment, I'm using a VPN on one of my computers to open any page. But this is not a practical solution.

For my phone, I'm having to use my 3G connection to get any work done :(

I wonder what the time zone and time settings are. Does Merlin router know what time it is, and time zone, on the Administration pages?

Just checked and the time + time zone is indeed correct.

Have also tried changing routers (I have another AC66U on an older firmware) which is giving the same issue.

Any https sites open without a hitch. Any http sites won't and throw up a timeout error.

Same with my phone too :(

I think you've just proved it's nothing to do with the router or the firmware. Maybe your ISP is having issues. Or do you have any other networking kit in mix that you haven't told us about?

Yeah I think it's something to do with my ISP.

The only networking kit I have is the AC66U and the other AC66U acting as a repeater in the other room for my PS4, TV etc.

Spoke with my ISP and they detected a fault in the line (strange since I can download from usenet etc at full speed, around 9.5MBps on my fibre line).

However, they've given me a resolution date of 8th. So hopefully it'll be fixed by then.

Will update the thread once I hear back from them.

Atm, I'm using a vpn for my normal browsing and everything seems to be working.

Just an update. The issue just resolved itself all of a sudden. Nothing done on my part so was probably the ISP backend.
