Possible to retrieve configuration settings when changing Asus model ?

I am about to replace an Asus router model RT-AC68UF with an Asus router model RT-AX88U. I want to know if there is a way to recover on the new router all the configuration settings of the old router without having to re-enter them. Perhaps this issue has already been addressed.

No. Particularly not when going from an AC class model to an AX class model. But, people have had issues even when replacing with an identical model too.

I would suggest you configure a 'brand new' network with the RT-AX88U. If you want to see the full performance and stability the new routers bring.
