Dear all,
I'm not sure I understand the security model right here...
I have a couple of Netgear Powerline 500 adaptors. When I configure these, I can just connect a computer to the Ethernet port on the adapter, and launch Netgears software ... no password required to manage the adaptor.
I have a cable (coax) based Internet connection. Now, I'd like to use Powerline to move my router/AP to another room. So would be: ISP Coax to Ethernet Bridge --> Powerline Adaptor --> Powerline Adaptor --> Router/AP --> Local trusted LAN.
Is this secure? Is the management of the Powerline adaptor somehow restricted to non-routable packets that cannot traverse the ISP's bridge?
Or is this setup insecure, because Powerline should only be used on a trusted LAN?
